The Fish pond

12/2/25, 5:54 PM

The fish pond provides important proteins and fats for the nutrition of our students. Carp are bred here, which are dried to ensure a reliable food source.

The fish pond is another important component on the path to sustainable self-sufficiency for our school. It provides valuable proteins and healthy fats, which make an important contribution to the balanced diet of the students.

In the approximately 60-square-meter pond, which was completed in 2025, around 500 catfish are currently being raised. The fish reach a weight of 400 to 600 grams within about four months and are then fully grown. This creates a reliable cycle that regularly produces fresh yields.

To ensure long-term food supply, the fish are dried and stored after harvest. This keeps them preserved and allows them to be used independent of seasonal fluctuations. The pond is filled with groundwater, which ensures a stable and controlled water quality.
